Sir David Amess: A Beloved Parishioner

Updated: Oct 18, 2022

A Mass was held yesterday (15 October 2022) in memory of Sir David Amess MP on the first anniversary of his death. It was attended by parishioners and friends from the Southend West Conservatives. The Two Elizabeths sang at Communion - Pie Jesu and Schubert Ave Maria, and the hymns were chosen to reflect the wish to remember Sir David with peace and gentleness to all.

Elizabeth Upsher read a message from the family who went as follows:

The Amess family would like to thank everyone for their love, support, and prayers which have helped us through a terrible time. David cherished this church community and would be honored that this Mass was for him. We appeal to everyone to treat each other with kindness and respect and use David as an example. Our love, prayers, and thanks to all of you.

The photo of Sir David is now on the Our Lady's Altar as our memorial to him.
