British Citizenship of Fr. Alex Poblador – the first Rogationist assigned in the United Kingdom

Updated: Oct 20, 2022

Fr. Alex Poblador, rcj takes his oath as a British Citizen on the 12th of October 2022. Fr. Poblador, has lived in the U.K. from 2014 until now. He started working as a collaborator in his first year at Our Lady of Compassion Catholic Church in East London. Since then, He has always felt the local Church's need for priests and dynamic collaborators of the clergy, especially with the migrants and other ethnic groups.

After some years, he deeply felt part of this country and the closeness to the people, especially the Filipino migrants and Spanish-speaking parishioners. More importantly, he has planted the seed of the Rogate in the Diocese of Brentwood, where the Rogationist presence right now is highly appreciated, particularly by the local Bishop and the clergy of the Deanery. Fr. Alex becoming a British Citizen is a way of ensuring the trust he established with the Diocese, expanding the possibilities of Rogationist presence permanently in this land, and embracing the local culture where he is called to serve.

Before his present assignment, Fr. Poblador was assigned to St. James the Less in Colchester, the oldest English town in England, for three years as Assistant Priest (2015-2018). Then, He was sent to Our Lady Help of Christians and Saint Helen at Westcliff, Southend-on-Sea, as the Parish Priest. The parish is a medium-sized community characterized by diverse cultures and ethnic and religious backgrounds. He has been the pastor in this parish for the past four years.

The Rogationist congregation in England is now composed of two members: Fr. Viktor Aurellana and Fr. Alex Poblador. Let us continue to pray for their noble mission in the United Kingdom.
