Trusting God's Mercy Amidst Adversity

Throughout these Sunday's readings, we encounter the compelling notion of unwavering trust in God's mercy and the power of commitment, particularly amidst adversity.

Ezekiel 2:25 introduces this theme with a stark portrayal of Ezekiel's daunting responsibility to deliver God's truth to a stubborn audience. This account emphasizes the essence of commitment - disregarding the audience's reaction and focusing solely on giving God's message, demonstrating a deep trust in divine directive.

The resonating words of the responsorial Psalm draw our eyes to the Lord, echoing our reliance on His mercy. The Psalm eloquently affirms our constant gaze towards the Lord, awaiting His mercy, further solidifying our steadfast trust in His benevolence.

This trust is further explored in 2 Corinthians 12:7-10, where Paul delves into his struggle. He acknowledges his weaknesses and admits the sufficiency of God's grace overshadows them. This admission propels the theme by illustrating a profound reliance on God's power, even when human strength fails, enhancing the concept of faith-based resilience.

In Mark 6:1-6, Jesus, despite being met with skepticism from His people, remains resilient and faithful. This reading underscores the concept of remaining dedicated to our faith, even when faced with skepticism and disbelief.

Family Connections:

Reflect on a time when your family faced a significant challenge or setback. How did your faith guide you during this difficult time? How did trust in God's mercy and the power of commitment help you navigate through this period? Discuss how these experiences have deepened your family's faith and brought you closer.

Prayer:

Lord, strengthen us when we are weak and fill us with unwavering faith as we face life's adversities. Amen.

From the Assistant to the Parish Priest

Fr. Viktor

Gift Aid

Collection Envelopes 2024

If you are a tax paying parishioner making a gift to the parish, for example putting money in the collection, the Inland Revenue aids us by refunding the tax.

For every £1 you donate we can claim a 25p refund; £1 becomes £1.25 for the Parish.

Our Parish has to pay its own way, what we collect in the Offertory collection plate no longer covers our overhead costs, so the Gift Aid Scheme is our financial lifeline.

The new financial year starts on 6th April so please pick up your new box at the back of the church and check that we have your correct address.

Equally important, if you are a taxpayer and not in the scheme and would like to join and help the Parish please complete a Declaration Form which will be available for you to collect from the back of the church.

If you any further questions please contact

John Upsher phone 01702 347369.
